[PROXIMITY MEDIA] Intern, Non-Fiction

Proximity Media, which was founded by Ryan Coogler, is a multimedia company with film projects such as JUDAS AND THE BLACK MESSIAH, SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY, CREED III and SINNERS. This hybrid position is ideal for those interested in becoming documentary producers, directors, or executives —you must love reading, nonfiction film and television, have strong analytical writing skills, and a passion for diverse & inclusive storytelling. Previous internship experience is preferred but not required.

Please note that we accept applicants who are undergraduate juniors, seniors, and graduate students. Applicants not fitting the aforementioned requirement will not be considered.

Responsibilities include administrative support, coverage, industry research, and participation in company-wide staff meetings.

  • Interns will have the opportunity to develop an original nonfiction pitch (documentary or docuseries) with the guidance of the nonfiction team, culminating in a presentation to Proximity executives at the end of the semester.

  • The internship also has an educational component, including zoom lunches with Proximity executives and industry professionals.

The position is paid and begins in August 25th 2025 and runs through early December. We are currently accepting in-person applicants. Interns will work up to 24 hours a week and all interns must be available to attend full day Tuesdays. Interns will work at the Proximity offices in Burbank, CA, for two days a week and work remotely for one day a week.

The deadline for the application is July 21st at 7:00pm PST. Cover letters are strongly encouraged.
