[NBA] Coordinator, League & Basketball Operations Communications

The Communications Coordinator plays a key support role within the League Operations Communications team, serving as a secondary contact for Basketball and Referee Operations and the NBA G League. This position contributes to the promotion of on-court storylines, manages inbound media inquiries and supports content creation across NBA PR social and digital platforms.

Additionally, this role will support media operations at NBA global events, work closely on annual season awards and All-Star voting for the NBA and WNBA, and contribute to the NBA’s international media operations function by compiling media coverage and assisting with interview requests.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategically pitch and place stories in national media outlets.

  • Draft basketball-related press releases, media advisories and social media posts.

  • Assist with media operations at NBA global events, including logistics and credentialing

  • Contribute to the pitch team by identifying and promoting compelling on-court storylines.

  • Foster strong working relationships with members of the national media to facilitate ongoing coverage.

  • Serve as secondary PR contact for Basketball and Referee Operations, assisting with media inquiries related to discipline, officiating and rules interpretations.

  • Serve as the secondary contact for G League communications, including travel in support of tentpole events.

  • Support communications efforts for annual season awards and All-Star voting for both the NBA and WNBA.

  • Assist with international media operations, including accreditation, interview requests and coverage reports.

  • Collaborate with the editorial team to develop creative assets and written content for NBA PR social and digital platforms.

REQUIREMENTS

  •  Strong writing and storytelling skills

  • Familiarity with NBA basketball operations and officiating 

  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with senior executives

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud programs

  • Track record of meeting tight deadlines without compromising quality

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, journalism or a related field.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high comfort level working both as a team and individually

  • At least 2-4 years of experience working in a fast-paced sports and/or entertainment environment. 

  • Knowledge of social media platforms and best practices for content creation and audience engagement

Salary: $85,000 - $90,000
