What were some of your professional highlights of 2022?
After leading communications and PR efforts for global companies including Walmart, McDonald’s Corporation and Amazon, I pivoted to the entertainment industry, joining the PR team at iHeartMedia –the leading audio company in America. As part of this transition, I’ll develop communications strategies and publicity campaigns for iHeartPodcasts, the #1 podcast publisher globally, with a focus on The Black Effect Podcast Network, the largest podcast network dedicated to Black voices and BIN: Black Information Network, the first and only 24/7 comprehensive national audio news network dedicated to providing an objective, accurate and trusted source of news with a Black voice and perspective. In 2023, I look forward to ramping up in a new industry, amplifying new and emerging voices from historically underrepresented groups and using the power of audio to connect with diverse communities more authentically.
Additionally, in 2022:
I led strategic media engagement and served as spokesperson for the Operations arm of one the largest technology and logistics companies in the U.S.
I launched a consulting firm and secured positive national press coverage for 8 minority-owned small businesses across beauty, food and fashion.
What was your biggest professional lesson of 2022?
Never stop learning. Always be a student.
Understand that knowledge can come from anywhere – peers within your industry, creatives, young + emerging leaders or leaders in industries outside your own. Always look for ways to challenge your assumptions, pressure test your ideas and expand your thinking. Adopting a learning attitude throughout your career will help you become a more thoughtful, well-rounded, and fulfilled individual.
