[THE TELEVISION ACADEMY FOUNDATION] Intern
The Television Academy Foundation is currently accepting applications for its Spring internship program. The Foundation will offer paid, part-time internships to students who are currently enrolled in a college/university in the Greater Los Angeles Area (counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura).
Internship will take place February 2 – May 1, 2026.
Interns must commit to working 13 consecutive weeks: (12) at 25 hrs. and (one) at 20 hrs.
OVERVIEW
The Academy offers internships in the following areas:
AGENCY
What to Expect:
Interns in the Agency category will be placed at an agency for the representation of actors, directors, producers, writers, and/or cinematographers. Interns are exposed to a high-level overview of the agency environment and will shadow talent agents in their day-to-day work. Interns will learn how to manage heavy phone calls and communication, attend meetings, and handle other administrative responsibilities while learning the fundamentals of the talent agency business.

In addition to the qualifications for the Television Academy Foundation Internship program, the ideal candidate will have the following preferred qualifications:
Liberal Arts or Business background
Strong written, verbal, and social skills
Ability to work and communicate well in a fast-paced environment and think on their feet
Strong desire to enter an agency or entertainment management career path
DEVELOPMENT (SCRIPTED)
What to Expect:
Interns in Development - Scripted will be placed at a studio or production company developing content for television. Interns will receive an in-depth overview of development and production for scripted programming. They will observe and participate in the evaluation of scripted programming and movies for television, review literary materials, and be involved in the selection of writers and oversight of script development.
What You Bring:
In addition to the requirements for the Television Academy Foundation Internship program, the ideal candidate will have the following preferred qualifications:
A background in Creative Writing, Literature, Theatre Arts, Liberal Arts, or Communication
Standard office administration skill set (ability to work across Microsoft Office/Google Suite, draft email correspondence, conduct research)
Attention to detail and effective note taker
Desire to pursue a career in TV development and to learn about the business side of television pre-production
EDITING
What to Expect:
Editing Interns will be placed in a studio or production company. Interns will observe post production of episodic, reality, variety, TV movie, and/or mini-series shows, and have exposure to film/tape non-linear, color correction, and motion graphics systems. They will also have the opportunity to sit with editors and learn an overview of offline processes, online and color correction processes, and deliverables processes.
What You Bring:
In addition to the requirements for the Television Academy Foundation Internship program, the ideal candidate will have the following preferred qualifications:
Background coursework in film and tape editing
Basic knowledge of Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, Premiere, and Adobe After Effects
All applicants are required to upload a video link of work samples (no more than 5 minutes in total).
PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT
Production Management Interns will be placed with a studio or production company working on either episodic or reality television production. Responsibilities may include organizing, scheduling, and budgeting of productions, as well as some production assistant and general office duties. Interns can expect to learn and understand the skill set needed to start a successful career in production management.
What You Bring:
In addition to the requirements for the Television Academy Foundation Internship program, the ideal candidate will have the following preferred qualifications:
Background coursework in Film or TV, Business background is a plus
Strong organization and communication skills
Strong desire to pursue a career in TV production, specifically on the business side
REQUIREMENTS
All opportunities are open to all class levels.
Students may submit one entry for one category.
Finalists will be required to submit a letter of recommendation.
Applicants for Spring/Fall must be enrolled in the respective 2026 semester/quarter to be eligible.
Applicants for Spring who have completed or will be completing college or graduate school prior to December 31, 2025 are not eligible.
Eligible participants must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident, or a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipient at the time of submission. International students studying at a US institution on an F1 Visa are not eligible.
Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States and must be taking at least 6 units. Students entering their final quarter or semester in Spring 2026 taking less than 6 units may also apply. Fall and Spring opportunities are open to students enrolled in a college or university within the Greater Los Angeles Area (counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura) and Semester in LA programs ONLY.
Proof of Enrollment of the current semester/quarter (must include course list and number of units) i.e., transcript with schedule or official letter from Registrar's Office (also containing the same information). Note: All finalists must provide proof of enrollment for the specified internship term.
For the Foundation to conduct a background check and process payroll for an intern, the intern will need to provide the Foundation with a U.S. Social Security number upon notification of employment.
Students who have previously participated in the Internship Program are not eligible to apply again.
Students enrolled in specialized two-year or certificate programs should contact the Foundation to determine eligibility.
All Summer internships are paid, full-time positions, 40 hours per week. Fall and Spring internships are paid, part-time positions, 20-25 hours/week. Rate is $18- $19 per hour. Payment is made once a week; applicable payroll deductions apply.
