[US OLYMPICS] Paralegal
Reporting to the Sr. Associate General Counsel of Marketing & Intellectual Property, this role supports efforts to protect Olympic, Paralympic, and other USOPC intellectual property (IP) rights.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct IP research projects as needed.
Look for specimens for trademark filings.
Draft responses to requests to use USOPC marks.
Support anti-ambush efforts during the Olympic & Paralympic Games.
Assist in managing U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) filings and maintaining internal files.
Study and conduct research of history and existing agreements for provisions related to IP inquiries or disputes.
Organize and maintain all IP matter files and ensure compliance with the USOPC’s document retention policy.
Investigate trademark infringement matters and draft letters and other correspondence to trademark infringers. Track efforts through database management.
Assist with matters relating to IP litigation, including legal research, document production, writing memoranda, and maintaining a status log of ongoing cases.
Assist marketing & IP attorneys in reviewing, research, revising, and finalizing IP agreements. Attend negotiation meetings, take detailed notes and prepare contract drafts at counsel’s direction in compliance with USOPC standards.
Perform other duties in the areas of marketing & IP as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Paralegal certification
High school diploma
Associate’s Degree preferred
Ability to interact with professional maturity with all constituents
Robust knowledge of trademark and copyright laws and licensing issues
Excellent Word, PowerPoint, and Excel processing and database management
Experience with amateur or professional sports organizations beneficial but not required
3+ years of legal experience in intellectual property law with a focus on trademark practice, including supporting a significant trademark portfolio, preferably in a large firm and/or corporate environment
Role is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Hiring pay range $30.35- $35.66 per hour
